It is interesting that you learned about how professional women tennis players earn less than professional male tennis players. I can understand how you must feel that this is unfair and I can tell you feel very passionate about this too.
The issue you have identified is quite a controversial topic. There are many that agree that women and men should be paid equal, and many that do not agree. One perspective is that there are less people who watch women’s sport compared to men’s sport, therefore women playing these sports get paid less as the men have a larger audience. Another perspective is that women haven’t been playing sports for as long as men, and so people are still getting used to watching them. However, we are now starting to see more and more women playing sports professionally. Perhaps we will see a change in pay equality over the next decade.
I am interested to know if you learned some interesting facts about Serena or Venus Williams? I thought it was very interesting to learn that they have 4 sisters. I wonder if their other sisters are also great tennis players.
